In an Author’s Voice: A look inside the covers of two novels

CeCelia Zorn has recently authored two novels: “Angels Don’t Get Tattoos” and “Devils Don’t Wear Velvet.” Both novels focus on strong and gritty teenagers who are dealing with very intense life issues, along with their friends and families. These action-packed books filled with dialogue are set in the upper Midwest in a working class culture – a voice often invisible in the literature.

Zorn, an award-winning teacher and a registered nurse, will be at the Merrill Enrichment Center on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. to discuss the joys and challenges of writing the novels, what inspired them, and read a brief excerpt.

Readers have said, “So real, no cover-up garbage,” “Told with rare wisdom and an awfully big heart,” “I didn’t want it to end.”

Signed books will be available for purchase. See website: ceceliazorn.com for more information.

Zorn’s appearance will be the first in a series of free sessions to be offered by the MEC this year on a variety of topics. Many of these sessions are participatory as well as informative.
