On Tuesday night the Merrill girls basketball team hosted Shawano in a non conference match up. It was a very close game that came down to the last possession with Merrill getting the 53-52 win.
The Jays got the upper hand in the first half, outscoring Shawano 26-21. Shawano would flip the script in the second half, outscoring Merrill 31-27, however the Jays did just enough to hold on for the win.
Merrill was led by Courtney Krueger who scored 19 points, had six rebounds and five assists. Reese Mrachek had a nice game finishing with nine points, six rebounds and one assist. Elizabeth Iribarren was big on the boards for Merrill, finishing with 10 rebounds, four points and a block.
The girls will look to keep their winning streak alive as they host Medford on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
