Free shots for adults this November

Getting shots is the best way to stay healthy against some diseases. The Lincoln County Health Department is pleased to announce clinics that give free shots to adults who have no health insurance or no coverage for shots this November. This is available due to a special pilot program from the Wisconsin Immunization Program and the CDC.

“Prevention is key to health and adults need to protect themselves from diseases that can cause extreme illness and hospitalization. The uninsured adult population has barriers to be able to get proper preventative health care. These clinics can help people stay healthy and avoid unnecessary illness,” explains Jennifer Johnson, RN Public Health Nurse for Lincoln County Health Department.

Lincoln County Health Department has worked in partnership with Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital to be offering free adult immunization clinics at the Menard Center at 503 S. Center Ave. in Merrill. This is the site of many agencies: some including the food pantry, Comunidad Hispania, Bridge Community Dental, United Way, and St. Vincent DePaul Outreach office. All adults 19 and older without insurance or no coverage for shots are encouraged to come to get up to date on shots.

Clinics are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15 from 4-5 p.m. and on Monday, Nov. 19 from 10-12 p.m. Vaccines available at these clinics are: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hep A, (Hepatitis A), Hep B (Hepatitis B), Pneumonia vaccines (PCV13, PPSV23), and Tdap (Tetanus, Diptheria, and Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine. All vaccines are available while supplies last.
