Sierra Pacific Windows-Merrill employees recently held their third annual hog raffle, with proceeds benefiting the Merrill area food pantries. Each year a hog has been purchased from the market sale at the Lincoln County Fair. Following processing, the hog is raffled off in halves to two lucky plant employees. This year’s raffle yielded $1,013. According to plant Superintendent Jeff Schneider, thanks to the efforts of a local coop, the pantries are now able to purchase food for 19 cents per pound. Due to the generosity expressed by the Merrill plan’ts employees this year, the pantries will now be able to purchase nearly two and a half tons of food to distribute to those in need in the local community.

“This has really been a tremendous event for our crew as a way to be thankful and give back to our community,” Schneider said. ” I really appreciate and am proud of all of our folks for digging deep and making this donation possible. We are a small plant with a big heart.” This year’s employee raffle winners were Sandy Ament and Roger Williams
