First Street Coffee Station has more than doubled its workforce with the opening of it’s new location in the Park City Credit Union headquarters, Monday morning.
Don and Dawn Swan have owned First Street Coffee Station on East First Street for 10 years. That location will stay open, they stressed.

Don said the couple had been interested in expanding when they were approached by Park City Credit Union. Park City was looking for a local establishment to open a location inside their new building at the corner of Hwy. 64 and Pine Ridge Avenue. The Swans immediately jumped at the opportunity.
One of the top items on their wish list was a drive through, which has been incorporated into the new location.
While the square footage and seating capacity of the new space is about the same as their current coffee shop on East First Street, each shop will have its own personality.
Dawns said the decor will include some “Merrill-cana,” honoring the history of the community.
To start with, the beverage and food options will be the same as the current location. The new shop does have a cold case which will allow them to carry more bakery and cheesecakes.
The menu could evolve over time based on the clientele, Dawn noted.
“We’ll go with what the customers want,” Dawn said. “A coffee shop just builds itself.”
First Street Coffee Station has a separate entrance and can be gated off from the Park City Credit Union space, allowing the shop to keep its own hours. Initially, the hours will be the same as the downtown shop; 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. First Street Coffee Station will continue to offer delivery from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. weekdays. Don does almost all of the deliveries himself.
“I love to get out and see people,” he said.
The Swans are ready for their new location to be busy.
“We want to accommodate the community and also the travelers,” Dawn said. “This is going to be a busy location.”
The Swans moved back to Merrill in 2000 and one of the first things they noticed was that Merrill didn’t have any coffee shops that served sandwiches. About a month after that, two such shops opened in downtown Merrill. The Swans later bought the building that housed the coffee shop on East First Street. When the operator of the coffee shop moved on, Don and Dawn decided to run the business themselves.

The new location can be reached for carryout orders or deliveries at 715-722-0020. Delivery service is available from both locations, from 11-2 PM, Monday-Friday. First Street Coffee Station will also be introducing a mobile app in the near future to allow for online carryout ordering.
