Lobsterfest cracks new record in fourth year

In its fourth year, Merrill Lobsterfest served a new record of about 425 lobsters.

The Maine lobsters arrive alive in Merrill the day before the event and hit the pot immediately before landing on the plates of Lobsterfest diners. The event is held on the street in front of Ballyhoo’s. The lobster dinners are prepared and served by Ballyhoos staff and  volunteers.

“Lobster Queen” Liz Hanz was dressed appropriately as she presided over Lobsterfest for the fourth year.

Proceeds from Merrill Lobsterfest help support the Safe Ride Home program through the Lincoln County Tavern League.

Local emergency services personnel show their support for the event by volunteering to help diners crack into their crustaceans.
