Merrill Police reports

June 11
8:29 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
10:34 a.m.- A hotel reported two men had taken a part off a hot tub rendering the hot tub unusable. Investigation continues.
10:19 p.m.- A caller reported his roommate had struck him. The roommate was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

June 12
10:15 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
10:16 a.m.- A female was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
5:22 p.m.- A store reported a shoplifting incident. A female stole an item and a short time later her boyfriend attempted to return the item for a refund. Their identities are known to police. Contact could not be established with either of the suspects; a criminal complaint was completed with a warrant requested for the suspect’s arrest for shoplifting.

June 13
11:24 a.m.- An officer was dispatched to a theft complaint. The caller advised they had video of someone taking the front desk bell from the business. Contact was made with the suspects and they will be mailing the bell back as they reside in another state.
5:31 p.m.- An officer responded to a criminal damage to property complaint. The caller advised she was home watching TV when she heard a loud bang from outside. When she walked outside, she noticed someone had thrown a rock through her apartment window. Investigation is ongoing.

June 14
3:35 p.m.- An officer responded to a threat complaint. The caller advised another tenant in his building left him a note that he was going to hurt him if he didn’t stop driving his motorcycle by the building at a high rate of speed. The tenant who left the note was spoken to and advised he was upset about being woken up every day by the motorcycle and wrote the note out of frustration. He was advised to leave other tenants alone and contact the landlord with further issues.

June 15
10:54 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to a residence after receiving information that an individual with a warrant for their arrest was at the residence. The individual, who was an absconder from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole, was located and taken into custody. Another party was also taken into custody at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole. Both were transported to the jail.
11:58 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Liberty Street for a male subject who had fallen off his bike and appeared intoxicated. Officer located the male and assisted him up off of the ground. He was found to have been drinking and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole was contacted. Probation and Parole placed a hold on the male subject and he was transported to the jail.

June 16
2:20 a.m.- An officer located a vehicle driving in a reckless manner and at a high rate of speed on Grand Avenue. The vehicle fled from the officer and during the pursuit, the vehicle turned off its headlights. The vehicle continued out of the city. The officer lost site of the vehicle as it continued without its headlights illuminated. The investigation is ongoing.
9:36 a.m.- An officer took a report of a vehicle driving in a reckless manner. The vehicles occupants were located and one of the parties was found to have an active warrant for their arrest through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole. The male subject was taken into custody on the warrant and transported to the jail.
9:34 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to the area of East Fourth Street and Blaine Street after receiving several calls about a male that appeared to have been trying to get into a residence. One of the neighbors had tackled the male subject and detained him until officers arrived and could take the male into custody. The intoxicated male was arrested and transported to the jail on charges of disorderly conduct.
11:38 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to a driving complaint. The reporting party remained on the phone with dispatch and the vehicle was located as it was getting onto Highway 51 from Highway 64. The officers observed the vehicle deviating within its lane of travel as well as cross the center line. The vehicle was stopped and the driver displayed signs indicative of impairment. The driver was placed through field sobriety tests and based off of those test, was arrested for operating while under the influence 1st offense.
