The Friends of T.B. Scott Library are presenting a program on Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. that is sure to entertain. All are invited to enjoy this free program.
As the Second World War ended, America experienced the loss of it’s stalwart leader, President Franklin Roosevelt. After 13 years as First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt hoped to retire and perhaps write her memoirs. By 1948 the world had changed dramatically and so had Eleanor.
She shares with the audience her tragedies and triumphs. Born into the opulent wealth of America’s “Golden Age” she would grow from the shy, homely orphan into confident, driven woman. Annealed by personal tragedy, she would emerge as a champion of civil rights, author and stateswoman.
Eleanor is best summed up by President Harry S. Truman, who dubbed her “The First Lady of the World.” Eleanor will be portrayed by Jessica Michna of Racine in T.B. Scott Free Library’s Community Room on Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m.
Sunday’s program is presented by the Friends of T.B. Scott Library as their annual program. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
First Impressions by Jessica Michna has become widely known for riveting portrayals of First Ladies, other historic women and even fictitious characters. Michna’s compelling and enthralling performances have entertained groups throughout the U.S. Her performance in Merrill last year as Helen Keller was loved by the audience and the Friends decided they wanted to see more.
In Sunday’s program, Michna will relate the story of this fabulous first lady which she has been sharing with the public since 2005.
The Friends of T.B.
