Merrill track struggles at conference invite

On Tuesday, April 10, the Merrill boys and girls track teams took to the UW-Stevens Point fieldhouse for the Wisconsin Valley Conference invite. The boys placed sixth place out of seven teams, while the girls came in seventh.
On the boys side, Isaac Meyer was able to get the Merrill boys an eighth place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.81 seconds. The 200 meter hurdles yielded even better results for Meyer as he got a fourth place finish with a time of 28.05 seconds. Aiden Tautges wouldn’t be far behind as he took sixth place, running a time of 28.57 seconds.
In the boys long jump, Adam Laehn and Jared Olhoff both had nice showings with Laehn taking fourth place, jumping a distance of 21-02.75; and Olhoff taking fifth with a distance of 20-03.00. Olhoff followed up with a second place showing in the triple jump with a distance of 43-09.00.
For the Bluejay girls, Autumn Schenzel ran a time of 8.41 seconds in the 60 meter dash, good enough for third place. In the 200 meter dash, Schenzel took sixth place, running a time of 28.70 seconds. Merrill’s Faith Seliger would come in eighth place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.04 seconds. The 400 meter run saw Merrill have another top five finisher as Dalie Thomas took fifth place, running a time of 1:05.04.
Morgan Wardall had a nice showing in the shot put, taking fifth place with a distance of 33-02.25. Emily Sczygelski finished in a tie for sixth place in the pole vault, hitting a height of 8-06.00. Autumn Schenzel finished in seventh place in the long jump, jumping a distance of 15-02.50.
The Merrill track teams are set to compete again on Tuesday, April 24, at Medford High School, starting at 4:30 p.m.
