Carol M. Peterson

Carol M. Peterson, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on March 9, 2018. She was born August 4, 1930 in Park Falls, Wisconsin to the late Oscar and Agnes (Kundinger) Olson. On June 27, 1953, Carol married her high school sweetheart- the love of her life- Roman ‘Butch’ Peterson in Park Falls, WI. It was a union that would last nearly 65 years.

Carol was a devoted mother to her six children. When her children were grown, she worked as a receptionist for Wolf Optical until her retirement. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and remained a loyal fan of the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Merrill Blue Jays her whole life. Carol was an active church member at St. Francis Xavier Parish. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially camping at Indian Mounds campground for 40 years. Carol loved polka dancing, flambeau-rama, volunteering at Pine Crest and the hospital. She was a Lioness for many years and also belonged to a bridge club. Carol especially loved having family get-togethers and traveling with her husband on many adventurous trips in their 33 years of retirement. Her ever smiling face will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband; Roman ‘Butch’ Peterson, Merrill; six children: Terry Peterson, Jill Gustafson, Barbara Peterson, Michael Peterson, Pat (Sandy Anderson) Peterson and MaryBeth Peterson; six grandchildren: Sarah (Rob) Frisch, Alec Hepp, Ben Peterson, Matthew Anderson, Blake Anderson and Sam Anderson; three great-grandchildren: Avery and William Frisch and Oliver Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Bob and Jack Olson, sister, Margie Klapperich, son in law, Jim Gustafson and grandson, Matthew Peterson.

Visitation will be held at St. Francis Xavier Parish March 24th from 9am to 12pm followed by a funeral liturgy mass at 12pm. Father Chris Kemp will perform the liturgy.
