Merrill Police Department Reports

January 16
9:52 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to Probation and Parole for a Probation Violation. One male was taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

January 17
12:42 a.m.- A caller reported the odor of marijuana coming from an apartment. Officers located the apartment and spoke to the tenant who turned over marijuana and a pipe. He was cited for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.
8:22 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
11:01 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.
1:37 p.m.- A store reported a shoplifter stole some grocery items on 01-15-18. The officer obtained a photo of the thief from surveillance video and will be attempting to identify the suspect.

January 18
7:44 a.m.- A crash was reported in the 300 block of E. 3rd St. A vehicle had been stopped waiting to turn into a business parking lot and was rear-ended by the vehicle behind her. The offending driver was found to have been texting while driving rather than watching the roadway. She was cited for texting while driving and inattentive driving. A crash report was completed.
12:06 p.m.- A caller reported a friend of his son had come to his residence asking where his son was. The caller stated he went to get his son and when he returned found the “friend” had stolen several items from the residence. The suspect is known and investigation is ongoing.

January 19
12 p.m.- A caller reported that two syringes were located in a hotel room within the city. The syringes were tested by the investigation officer and the syringes were found to contain Methamphetamine. The officer is investigating the matter to determine the owners of the syringes. At this time the suspect is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.

January 20
2:48 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to a male entering a residence without owners consent. The individual left the scene and was located by Officers. The male was escorted to his residence after being found intoxicated. Officers were later dispatched back to the male’s residence after a complaint of him throwing items out of his apartment window. Upon arrival officers took the male into custody after discovering he had kicked in the neighbor’s door. The male was transported to the Lincoln County Jail for Damage to property, two counts of disorderly conduct and two counts of Threat of Battery to a Judge or Law Enforcement.
5 p.m.- An Officer took a theft complaint. The male individual was missing some of his prescribed medication and believed them to be stolen. An ongoing investigation is occurring.

January 21
1:40 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of West First Street for a report of someone supposedly attempting to make entry into a residence. Officers responded and spoke with the reporting party. While officers were speaking with them, they could hear the suspect close by. When officers went to make contact, the male was seen trying to make entry into a residence. The male was found not to reside at any of the residences he was trying to make entry to. The male subject was taken into custody for disorderly conduct and transported to the jail.
12:10 p.m.- An officer responded to a local business for a report of a gas skip. Suspect information/description was obtained and the investigation is ongoing.
7:53 p.m.- Officers were dispatched to a residence for reported suspicious activity that was taking place outside of the residence. During the course of the investigation, it was found that a male subject present at the residence had a warrant for their arrest through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole. The male subject was arrested on the probation warrant and transported to the jail.
