MHS students participate in chess tournament

Merrill High School librarian Nathan Hanson held a chess tournament over the past several weeks which involved 52 students. The final was held this past week with awards given out.

“What was super cool about this tournament was the number of students who joined who had either never played chess before or had very little experience playing chess,” Hanson said. “What MHS students should be most proud of is how many students took the time, and had the patience, to help show others how to play. Taking chances and supporting one another is what learning should be all about. I am very proud of our awesome students!”
