Drug Free Coalition to host County education forum

October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. The Lincoln County Drug Free Coalition (DFC) along with the Northwoods Coalition would like to invite the public to attend a County Educational Forum about the misuse of opioids and use of methamphetamine in our county. The forum will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Lincoln County Service Center Upper Level Assembly Room, 801 N. Sales St., Merrill. Beginning at 5 p.m. you are invited to join for appetizers and to learn about the work of local agencies/organizations to address the substance use/abuse needs in Lincoln County.
Representative Mary Felzkowski will be in attendance at the forum to provide an overview of opioid and methamphetamine use/abuse in Wisconsin and statewide efforts to address. You will then hear what is occurring locally from representative(s) of local schools, medical/hospital, law enforcement and the judicial system. There will be time at the end of the forum for questions and discussion.
Members of the planning committee include the following coalition members: Laura Forster, Prairie River Middle School Counselor; Debbie Moellendorf, UW-Extension 4-H Youth Development Educator; Ken Neff, Retired Chief, Merrill Police Department; Dr. Robert Sedlacek, Family Physician Ascension Medical Group Merrill; and Officer Tyler Tesch, Drug Recognition Expert, Merrill Police Department.
Please contact Debbie Moellendorf at 715-539-1077 or via email at [email protected] if you have questions or would like additional information.
