Wilbert E. Ziebell, 97, of Wausau, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Benedictine Living Community of Wausau.
Wilbert was born August 9, 1919 in the Town of Maine, Marathon County, son of the late Erwin and Lydia (Schultz) Ziebell. Wilbert married Doris Radke on November 18, 1938. She preceded him in death on May 26, 1964. He then married Alta (Buch) Ritter on September 16, 1965. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2009. Wilbert was a self-employed residential carpenter for many years and retired in 1982. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture and fishing and hunting. Wilbert was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, Town of Maine.
Survivors include his 4 sons, Larry (Bonnie) Ziebell of Elberfeld, Indiana, Donald (Christina) Ziebell of Florida, Leander (Diana) Ziebell of Edgar, and Thomas (Sue) Ziebell of Skanee, Michigan; 14 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Wilbert was preceded in death by his wives, Doris and Alta; his parents, Erwin and Lydia Ziebell; his step-daughter, Virginia Bartelt; his grandson, Pierre Ziebell; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman (Norma) Ziebell and Alvin (Adeline) Ziebell.
The funeral service for Wilbert will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Burial will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
