Harassing texts lead to more trouble for Merrill man

Sunday night, officers responded to a harassment complaint on Chestnut Street. Upon arrival, officers met with the reporting party who indicated receiving derogatory text messages from 59-year-old Kelby Krause. According to officer notes, While speaking with Krause, he reportedly admitted to sending the messages.
Upon further investigation, it was learned four additional complaints had been received recently regarding similar behavior from Krause, including an arrest for Disorderly Conduct on Sept. 4 by a deputy with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

Krause appeared in Lincoln County Circuit Court on October 27, facing a Misdemeanor charge of Disorderly Conduct as a result of the September 4 incident. During that incident, Krause  was reportedly involved in another dispute with the same  party, during which Krause reportedly bent the radio antenna on a vehicle and removed a dog dish without consent.
While a Lincoln County deputy was investigating the matter, Krause was reportedly observed driving past the location of the incident, then made a U-turn and drove past again. The deputy followed Krause to make contact regarding the reported dispute and reportedly observed Krause’s vehicle cross the center line on CTH K, nearly striking a curb. Following further investigation, Krause was taken into custody on charges of Disorderly Conduct and  Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)-1st Offense.
As a result, Krause was taken into custody Sunday night on a charge of Disorderly Conduct.
