Local business owners enjoy company of neighborhood critter

Soaring temperatures have kept many area folks inside this week. But on Wednesday evening the heat didn’t phase Mr. ‘Peanut’ from visiting his neighbors and local business owners Dennis and Traci Fick.
As Traci explains, Peanut and his sister ‘Buttenut”-both wild grey squirrels- were born on the property of their west-side home this past spring.
“Their parents were very neat looking calico colored squirrels, with yellow tails and reddish fur” she adds.
“Peanut started coming around earlier this summer and since then, I guess he has just felt comfortable coming in for a visit and a bite to eat”

While Peanut is a rather social critter, his sister is more of an observer.
“She doesn’t come as close as Peanut does,” Traci explains.
“She kinda hangs back.”
Peanut visits the Fick’s backyard twice a week on average and his preferred cuisine is peanuts in the shell, hence his given name.
Peanut also enjoys popcorn, chips and whatever else the Ficks have to offer.
The Ficks readily admit their love for animals as they reside with their beloved teacup Chihuahas Maya, Punki and Tippi as well as their seven-year old bearded dragons
Benny and Joon.
