Victim name released in Bradley Dam fatality

Monday evening, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the victim involved in a fatal fishing accident which occurred Sunday evening in the town of Bradley.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, 82-year old Cecil E. Vogts was fishing along the shoreline near the Bradley Dam, when he slipped and fell into the water. A friend who was on-scene, was unable to reach him using a fishing net due to the current pulling the victim away from shore. The friend flagged down a passing vehicle and individuals from that vehicle swam out to into the water and were able to retrieve the victim, bringing him back to shore. Life saving measures were performed but were unsuccessful. Vogts was not wearing a personal flotation device and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported in the incident and circumstances do not appear to be suspicious.
