One person was injured after a motor vehicle crash last Tuesday morning in the Town of Merrill. At 1:51 p.m. a cell caller reported the crash at County Rd. JJ and Hillside Drive. She was transported to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The Merrill man was cited in the incident.

A 58-year-old Wausau man was taken into custody early Wednesday morning after deputies responded to a crash in the Town of Pine River. Just before midnight Tuesday a report was investigated of a crash on US Hwy. 51 just south of State Rd. 64. Deputies noted the driver showed signs of impairment and was placed through field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests he was taken into custody for a first offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party. A Merrill Police Officer assisted at the scene.

A 47-year-old Lake Tomahawk man was arrested Thursday afternoon on a felony charge after a deputy witnessed his vehicle strike a highway sign. The driver was placed through field sobriety tests and taken into custody on a felony fourth offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. At a bond hearing a judge set a $1,500 cash bond.

The number of car deer crashes has gone down slightly with 10 being reported this past week. Two bear were also struck this past week. On Tuesday evening a bear was found dead on State Rd. 17 near Hildebrand Lake Road in the Town of Harrison. On Saturday evening a woman from Oregon struck and killed a bear on County Rd. J west of US Hwy. 51 near Irma.
