Felony charges filed in Lincoln County Circuit Court

Eric S. Haring, 34 of Tomahawk-was charged May 26 with Felony charges of Child Abuse-Intentionally Causing Great Bodily Harm and Child Abuse-Recklessly causing Great Harm and a misdemeanor charge of Resisting/Obstructing an Officer.
According to court records, Haring was reportedly involved in an incident on Sunday May 22nd in which a 7-month old infant left in his care was found to have a broken arm. Haring reportedly stated he had accidently dropped the infant, then caught the infant by the arm, while holding another child. However court records indicate a physician’s statement indicating a professional opinion of “injuries to the child are consistent with child abuse rather than an accident” and “a very specific fracturen to the  arm would take a significant amount of force to cause that type of seperation.” During medical evaluation, the child was also found to have a severe spanking injury including bruising from the lower back area to the inner thigh area.

Justin D. Sims, 17 of Merrill– was charged May 25 with Felony charges of Child Abuse-Intentionally Causing Great Bodily Harm and Strangulation Suffocation.
According to court records, Sims was involved in an incident at Merrill High School on May 24, in which he was reportedly involved in an altercation with another male student and admitted to “choking out” the other male involved.

Devon N. Somers, 17 of Tomahawk- was charged May 23 with Felony-Exposing a Child to Harmful material.
According to court records, Somers reportedly made unwanted sexual contact with the victim in the case while aboard a school bus, as well as showing the victim images of his genitals.
The reported contact began in February and continued into March of this year, until a complaint was followed and ensuing an investigation by the Tomahawk Police Department.

Joshua O.R DeWitt-29 of Tomahawk– was charged May 23 with Felony-Child Enticement-Sexual Contact; Using a Computer facilitate a Sex Crime; Possession of Child Pornography and Soliciting a Child for Prostitution.
According to court records, DeWitt reportedly attempted to convince a minor female to have sexual contact with him via social media, as well as possessing nude images of another juvenile female from Rusk County; between a time period spanning from October of 2015 until contact by Rusk County authorities on May 20th,

Tyler N. Hoople, 28 of Tomahawk– was charged May 20 with multiple charges of Felony-Burglary to Building or Dwelling; Take and Drive a Vehicle w/o Owners Consent and Bailjumping along with two misdemeanor charges of Theft of Movable Property value less than $2,500.
According to court records, Hoople was involved in a February 2015 incident in which he reportedly removed a 4 -wheeled ATV and several other items including two chainsaws and a compound bow, from a storage unit near Tomahawk; without consent of the owner.

Nathan J. Hoffman, 19 of Merrill– was charged May 20 with 26 counts of misdemeanor Theft of Moveable Property value less than $2,500 and 8 Felony counts of Criminal Damage to a Highway Vehicle.
According to court records, Hoffman was reportedly involved in a series of sign thefts in the Town of Harding-along with two other males-dating back to December of 2015. Signage included a stop sign as well as various road signs and construction barricades.

Matthew M.L Lentz, 19 of Merrill-was charged May 20 with 26 counts of misdemeanor Theft of Moveable Property value less than $2,500 and 8 Felony counts of Criminal Damage to a Highway Vehicle.
According to court records, Lentz was reportedly involved in a series of sign thefts in the Town of Harding-along with two other males-dating back to December of 2015. Signage included a stop sign as well as various road signs and construction barricades.

Trevar T. Hahn, 19 of Merrill-was charged May 20 with 26 counts of misdemeanor Theft of Moveable Property value less than $2,500 and 8 Felony counts of Criminal Damage to a Highway Vehicle.
According to court records, Hahn was reportedly involved in a series of sign thefts in the Town of Harding-along with two other males-dating back to December of 2015. Signage included a stop sign as well as various road signs and construction barricades.

Tyler W. Leder, 20 of Tomahawk- was charged May 20 with 2-counts of Felony Burglary to Building or Dwelling and Felony-Theft of Moveable Property value between $2,500-$5,000.
According to officer notes, Leder was involved in an incident at the new Merrill Festival Grounds on May 4, in which he reportedly entered the cattle barn and removed approximately $5,000 in tools from a construction trailer owned by Habitat for Humanity. Leder also reportedly entered the Brickyard School House-also located at the festival grounds- for the purpose of removing items, but however did not find anything of value. Habitat for Humanity nor the City of Merrill authorized entry and in either case, nor authorize the removal of the tools.

Cory B. Weiler, 20 of Tomahawk- was charged May 17 with Felony-Strangulation and Suffocation; Child Abuse-Recklessly Cause Harm and four misdemeanor counts of Sex with Child age 16 or older.
According to court records, Weiler was involved in an incident in the Town of Bradley in March, in which he reportedly engaged in sexual contact with a 16-year old female who was also a reported runway. Weiler reportedly bit and choked the victim as well as striking her in the face on various occasions
