Merrill Police reports

April 12
2:29 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to an address on East First Street for a report of a male subject that was pounding on the door of a residence. The male subject that was at the residence was a male subject the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office was looking for in reference to an incident that had happened in the county. When officers arrived, the male subject was found to be in a detached garage and refused to come out. Officers were able to negotiate with the male subject who voluntarily exited the structure. The male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and possession of a narcotic drug that he had in his possession at the time. He was also charged with other crimes for his actions that occurred in the county.

11 p.m.- An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of State Hwy. 64 and Hwy. 51 for a registration violation. A female passenger in the vehicle was found to have an active warrant through probation and parole and was taken into custody for that. During a search of the female incident to arrest, officers located a gem bag the contents of which tested positive for being methamphetamine as well as a prescription medication. The female was also charged for possession of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of a prescription medication and bail jumping.

April 13
11 a.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation at the request of Probation & Parole.

1:10 p.m.- A crash was reported on Thielman Street at Pine Ridge Avenue. A vehicle had been stopped at the stop sign and was struck from behind. The offending driver was cited for inattentive driving and operating without insurance.

4:20 p.m.- An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle on Pier Street at Taylor Street. The driver led the officer on a high speed pursuit. After a 1.6 mile pursuit, the driver was stopped and arrested. It was found he had two warrants for his arrest through Marathon County. He was also found to have marijuana in his pocket although he claimed he was borrowing the pants from a cousin. He was also arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was taken to jail for felony fleeing, the warrants and Operating While Intoxicated.

April 14
7:58 a.m.- An officer took a report of criminal damage to property at a school. There was a window that had been broken and graffiti had been put on the playground. Unknown suspect at this time, investigation is ongoing.

9:21 a.m.- Officers responded to a juvenile who was out of control. The juvenile had punched holes in a door and had injured a staff member. The juvenile was taken to secure detention and is being referred to Social Services for Battery, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Damage to Property.

April 15
7:43 p.m.- A male was arrested in the 500 block of Pine Ridge Avenue after officers found that he had an active warrant for his arrest.

11:45 p.m.- An office conducted a traffic stop with a female in the 100 Block of East 1st Street. During the stop, an officer noticed a syringe by the driver’s seat. As a result, the female was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine and numerous counts of Bail Jumping.

April 16
8:52 a.m.- Officers were dispatched to Theilman Street for a report of an intoxicated pedestrian that callers feared would be struck by passing automobiles. Contact was made with the intoxicated male subject who was barely able to walk. The male subject was eventually identified and was found to have an open bond that prohibited alcohol consumption. He was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical evaluation. While at the hospital, the male subject continued to be loud, boisterous and profane. After medical clearance, the male subject was transported to the jail on charges of bail jumping and disorderly conduct.

10:52 p.m.- An officer on patrol observed a male subject waling on West Main Street that was found to have an active warrant through probation and parole. Contact was made with the male subject who was taken into custody for the warrant. Another male who was in the company of the wanted male subject was found to have marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession. He will be cited for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia.

April 17
1:33 a.m.- Officers took a report of vehicle that was possibly stolen in the City of Merrill sometime after 11 p.m. on April 16. Just prior to taking this call, officers, deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lincoln County EMS were dispatched to a one vehicle crash just north of the city limits. The vehicle involved was found to be the one that was being reported stolen. Through the course of the investigation, the true operator of the vehicle was identified and the vehicle was in fact never stolen. Citations will be issued by Merrill Police as well as Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for this incident.
