Merrill Police reports

March 7
12:32 p.m.- An officer investigated a report of a theft involving a cell phone. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

March 8
3:44 p.m.- An officer investigated a report of a theft involving a folding chalk board that was taken from in front of a business. The investigation is ongoing.
8:07 p.m.- An officer investigated a theft involving a firearm. Officers from a different jurisdiction had arrested an individual who was in possession of a firearm of which he claimed to be borrowed from a friend in Merrill. When the owner of the firearm was contacted, he did not know it had been missing and had not given anyone permission to take it. Charges for the theft of the firearm are forthcoming.

March 9
7:51 p.m.- An officer investigated a fraud complaint where the victim’s credit card was being used without their permission. The investigation is ongoing.

March 10
9:31 a.m.- Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 200 block of Hendricks Street. As a result, the male operator was arrested for drug related OWI and taken to jail on a probation hold, possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.
1:28 p.m.- A male was arrested for a probation violation and brought to the jail.
10:04 p.m.- Officers responded to a report of a possible intoxicated driver in the 700 block of North Center Avenue. As a result, the male operator was arrested for OWI 4th offense- felony and brought to the jail.
