Dorothy C. Voigt

Dorothy C. Voigt, 86, of the Town of Berlin, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016, at her home surrounded by her loving family while under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice Services.

Dorothy was born November 17, 1929, in the Town of Texas, Marathon County, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Caroline (Billerbeck) Ohlmann.  She married Sheldon C. Voigt on July 31, 1948, in Merrill.  He preceded her in death on January 8, 2000.  Dorothy and Sheldon operated a trucking business for 45 years.  They hauled milk and timber.  Dorothy was a certified bulk and milk weigher and sampler.  Dorothy also was a bookkeeper for their trucking business.

Dorothy collected antique plates and pedal sewing machines, and enjoyed quilting.  Dorothy was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan (Lyle) Thurs of Hamburg; four sons, Sheldon (Karen) Voigt, Jr. of Merrill, Robert (Karen) Voigt of Wausau, Wayne Voigt of Wausau, and Michael (Andrea) Voigt of Merrill; one daughter-in-law, Karen Voigt of Wausau; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.  Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Sheldon C. Voigt, Sr.; her parents, Wilhelm and Caroline Ohlmann; one son, Richard Voigt; one daughter-in-law, Debra Voigt; one grandson, Louis Voigt; and one great-granddaughter, Harper Leigh Knaack.

The funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill.  Pastor Jacob Sherry will officiate.  Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Church Cemetery – Naugart, Town of Berlin.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
