Black bear visits Stange’s Park

A black bear wandered into town on Sunday afternoon, creating a buzz around Stange’s Park.

At one time the bear, estimated to be a yearling, took refuge in a tree across from Park City Baptist Church. Police tried to clear pedestrians who stopped and took pictures, many with small children in tow.

Police remind you if you see a black bear, leave it alone and it will wander off. Harassing a wild animal is dangerous and is against the law.

Eventually, once it was left alone the bear wandered back through the park, across the basketball court and under the bridge before swimming over to the area of Athletic Park.
