Deputy resigns amid sexual assault charges

05-20-15 deputy sex assaultA Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy resigned Thursday morning, as he faces charges of sexual assault in Marathon County.
Zachary Dorr, 34, had been employed with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for 4 1/2 years as a deputy.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department released information Thursday that Dorr has been charged with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl. The incident occurred at Dorr’s Wausau home May 9 while he was not on duty, according to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department. Both Dorr and the victim were at a previously arranged function on May 9, prior to going to his residence.
Dorr was arrested last Tuesday, May 12. Following his initial appearance in Marathon County Circuit Court Thursday, Dorr was held on a $100,000 bond. Dorr faces there felony counts, including second degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement-sexual contact and exposing genitals to a child.
According to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Marathon County officials have been in regular contact with them regarding this case.
