Mary (Bidwell) Mootz, 99, of Merrill, passed away January 5, 2015 at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Mary was born May 16, 1915, in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Schumacher) Bidwell. She was united in marriage with Elmer Mootz on November 29, 1949, in the Town of Hamburg. Elmer preceded her in death on November 9, 2007. Mary was also preceded in death by an infant brother.
Mary and Elmer operated the family farm, cooked maple syrup, and raised bees, strawberries, raspberries and flowers until retiring to Merrill in 1998. Mary loved gardening, enjoyed reading, going to their woodland in Hamburg, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Mary was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Hamburg, and served as the financial secretary for the church for over 40 years.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 10, 2015 in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Pastor Joel Danner will officiate. Entombment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M Saturday in the Holy Cross Chapel. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 12625 9th Lane, Hamburg, Wisconsin 54411.
