Shirley M. Hommerding

Shirley M. Hommerding, age 82, of Merrill, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Shirley was born December 24, 1931, in Merrill, daughter of the late Henry and Frances Bauman. Shirley was married to Elmer Hommerding and he passed away in 1975.  In 1942, Shirley began working at the Gleason Post Office as a clerk; she retired as the Postmaster in 1992.  Shirley was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, taking care of her yard, and taking an occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include her daughter, May (Bob) Daigle of Gleason; three grandchildren, Jesirae (Jerrod) Ford of Merrill, Amanda (Ryan) Schuett of Wausau, and A.J. (Laura) Daigle of Pulaski; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Lani, Jack, Mylee, Dane, Gage, and Vada; and one sister, Mary Ann Ruprecht, of Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Hommerding; her parents, Henry and Frances Bauman; her daughter, Sherry Hommerding; her son, Barry Hommerding; and her siblings, Carl Bauman, Stanley Bauman, Carol VanErt, and Leo Bauman.  
The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 26, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville.   Father Michael McLain will preside.  Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Town of Schley, Lincoln County.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Friday at the church.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
