Robert L. Monnot

Robert L. Monnot, age 70, of Dothan, Alabama and Merrill, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at his home under the care of his family and hospice services.
Robert was born April 15, 1944, in Iron River, Michigan, son of the late Louis and Shrona (Tackett) Monnot.  He married Kathleen ‘Kathy’ Fischer on January 15, 1966, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.  She survives.  Robert owned and operated the former People’s I.G.A. in the Sixth Ward.  During this time, he and Kathy also owned the restaurant next door, “Delie Delight.”  In Alabama, Robert owned K&B Carpet Cleaning.  Robert was the Past-President and Past-Vice President of the former Sixth Ward Business Association, he was a Third Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, and he was very involved with the start of the Merrill Hockey Club.  Robert enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed woodworking, and cutting grass at the mobile home park in Dothan, Alabama.  Robert’s family will always remember his sense of humor.  
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Monnot of Dothan, Alabama and Merrill; three sons, Scott (Danielle) Monnot of Sheboygan, Andrew (Brenda) Monnot, Sr. of Merrill, and Chad (Lynn) Monnot of Wausau; seven grandchildren, Christopher Monnot-Meyer, Melanie Monnot, Andrew Monnot, Jr., Miranda Monnot, Michelle Monnot, Matthew Monnot, and Lindsay Monnot; two step-grandchildren, Craig LaBarge and Jafia LaBarge; two sisters, Pattie (Eddie) Impala, and Susan (Ronnie) Lindstrum both of Iron River, Michigan; one brother, Russell (Betty) Olson of Oshkosh; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew and Myrtle Fischer of Merrill; his sister-in-law, Andrea Fischer of Tomahawk; and his brother-in-law, LeRoy (Connie) Fischer of Merrill.  Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Shrona Monnot; three sisters, Delores, Evelyn, and June; and five brothers, Gerald, Eugene, Irvin, Paul, and Lewis.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M., Noon, on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill.  Father Michael McLain will preside.  Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 17, 2014, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.  The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
