Palazzo earns Eagle rank

Boy Scout Troop 599 of Merrill has added yet another Eagle Scout to its ranks. 
Josh Palazzo earned his Eagle Rank on Sept. 3, 2014 at the age of 14. He joined Cub Scouts as a Tiger Cub in Pack 108 in Cheyenne, WY while his dad was stationed there in the Air Force. Josh earned the Religious Emblem while in Pack 108.
In 2008, his family moved to Merrill and Josh quickly became active in Pack 503 at Jefferson Elementary.
Prior to crossing over into Boy Scouts, he earned his Arrow of Light – the highest Award in Cub Scouts.
Josh has been very active in Troop 599 as well. He served as Bugler, Scribe, Patrol Leader, and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He graduated from National Youth Leadership Training in the summer of 2013 and earned his Leadership Pin earlier this year. He has earned 12 Eagle Required Merit Badges and an additional 11 Elective Merit Badges. For his Eagle Project, he planned and renovated the playground at Trinity Christian Daycare.
He always enjoys his time at Camp Tesomas and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 2013. He became a brotherhood member this past summer. He was elected as the OA Scribe in August of this year.
Outside of scouting, Josh is a freshman at Merrill High School. He is an honor student, maintaining a 3.9 GPA. He has earned Citizen of the Quarter Awards and even earned Citizen of the Year twice at Prairie River Middle School. He was involved in Safety Patrol, Math Counts, Merrill Soccer, and served as a WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) leader. He played on the JV Soccer team at Merrill High School this fall.
Josh is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was confirmed in May of this year. He helps by greeting, serving fellowship refreshments, and served on the Sunday School Drama Team.
Some of Josh’s other hobbies include hunting, fishing, making maple syrup, sausage and jerky.
Josh is the son of Dennis and Kathy Palazzo.
