Sabey breaks out

MHS alumnus Jess Sabey has stepped up her play to the point where she was selected as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Offensive Athlete of the Week as well as UW-Whitewater Walmart Offensive Player of the Week.

The UW-W junior helped the Warhawks post a 3-0 record last week, including two WIAC wins to start conference play. She spiked at a .415 clip while posting 16 kills – matching her collegiate high –  in the victory over UW-Platteville. Jess offered 11 kills in a 3-0 triumph over previously unbeaten UW-Oshkosh. She closed the week out with 11 kills against Wheaton College for an average of 3.80 kills per set and an attacking % of .357. She had 5 block assists over the week.

She has 164 kills in 18 matches this season, and 19 total blocks.

Jess is a two-time NCAA Division III Regional participant.

She is majoring in finance and is a four-time member of the Dean’s list and two-time WIAC Scholar Athlete. She became a Warhawk because her grandfather played baseball for UW-W and because of the Warhawks’ success in sports.
