Merrill Habitat holds painted chair auction

In cooperation with the Merrill Historical Society, Merrill Habitat for Humanity Inc. is sponsoring a Painted Chair Auction. This will be a Silent Auction.
Bidding began Monday, Aug. 18 at The Merrill Historical Society and close on Labor Day, Sept. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Stock Building located on the Lincoln County Fairgrounds.
The painted chairs to be auctioned have been carefully painted and created by many of Merrill’s local artists.  You can view and bid on the chairs by visiting the Merrill Historical Society, 100 E. Third St., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, through Aug. 29.  Then on Labor Day, beginning after the parade, the painted chairs will be on display at the Stock Building located on the Lincoln County Fairgrounds. Bidding will end on Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. sharp.
You will also be able to vote for your favorite chairs, by putting quarters into a jar. The money collected will determine which chairs are our community’s favorites. The coins collected will then be exchanged for Merrill dollars and returned to the top three artists.  First place will receive $25, second place will be $15, and third place will be $10. The remainder of the money will go to benefit Habitat, as will all proceeds from the Painted Chair Auction.
Merrill Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.  Its mission is to provide safe and quality housing for families that qualify.
