Lois Barbara Gordon, 80, of Merrill, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill.
She was born Feb. 4, 1934 in El Paso, TX, the daughter of Thomas J. and Evelyn Garrer Evans.
Barbara obtained her Registered Nursing degree and began her career at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL. She continued her career at Kingsville Hospital in Texas, Children’s Hospital and General Dynamics both in Fort Worth, TX, and Ketttering Memorial in Dayton, OH. She also spent time in Jeddie, Saudi Arabia doing substitute nursing for vacationing nurses for various companies.
She was united in marriage to Max Edwin Gordon on Dec. 19, 1955 in Birmingham, AL.
Barbara was very active in the Bible Presbyterian Church in Merrill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Max; one daughter, Debra Robles; and one son, Kris Gordon. She is survived by two daughters, Denise Stafford of Loveland, OH and Sheri Vargas of Merrill; and a brother, Gary Evans of Houghton, MI; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the charity of their choice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Memorial Services and burial will be held at a later date at the Bible Presbyterian Church.
