James David Barrone

James David Barrone, 80, of Merrill, died Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. 
He was born June 15, 1933 in Merrill the son of Emil and Mabel Bull Barrone. Jim received his education in Merrill graduating in 1951. He entered the United States Marines and served his country during the Korean War, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star. He entered the Wisconsin State Patrol and reenlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam. On May 29, 1967, he was united in marriage to Mary Barrone at Hickam Field in Honolulu, HI. After his discharge, they returned to Merrill where he worked in fire control for the DNR where he retired. After his retirement he decided to return to work and was employed at the Stokley Cannery. For the past year and half he has made his home at the Veterans Home in King, WI. In free time Jim enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, trapping and watching the Green Bay Packers. 
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary, of Merrill; three sons, Jamie (Brenda) Barrone of Luxemburg, WI, David Barrone of Wausau, and Rick Barrone of Florida; two daughters, Sandi (Bill) Edwards of Wausau and Kimberly Marrazo of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Eric Barrone, Bryce Barrone, Heather (Nick) Phelps, Eric (Jessica) Hansen and Pete (Michelle) Staroska; four great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Eden,  and Creed Hansen and Aurelia Phelps; and two sisters, Miram Ellerman of Merrill and Nancy Hepp of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the Waid Funeral Home in Merrill. Services will be held on Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m. at the Waid Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.waidfuneral.com.
