MHS receives grant from Exxon Mobil

In their continuing effort to support local education, Gary and Mary Schwartz applied for and received another Exxon Mobil Educational Alliance grant. Applying on behalf of Pine Ridge Mobil, a local Exxon Mobil location the Schwartz’s designated the recipient to be the Merrill High School Math and Science departments. Superintendent Walter Leipart received the $500 check on behalf of the Math and Science departments. Shannon Murray Merrill High School principle remarked, “The grant money likely will be used for specialized calculators in those departments but certainly staff will be asked.”
Exxon Mobil has a long history of supporting educational programs like the Educational Alliance that focus on improvements in specific areas from pre-school to higher education.
“We believe it is fundamentally important to encourage the next generation to pursue studies and careers in fields involving math and science,” the Schwartz’s stated.
Pine Ridge Mobil, locally owned by Gary and Mary Schwartz and their staff have long been committed to the Merrill Community and the Merrill Area Public Schools. On Jan. 31, 2013, Christina Thompson represented their staff and loyal customers in presenting the $500 check from this grant to the Merrill School System. Walter Leipart expressed appreciation for their involvement in the educational process as evidenced by applying for this and previous grants.
