William R. ?Bill? Zastrow

William R. “Bill” Zastrow, 82, formerly of Merrill and Milwaukee, WI, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Deer Lodge Nursing Home, MT, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Bill was born on Nov. 11, 1931 in Rhinelander, the son of Frank and Helen (Young) Zastrow. Bill was married to Florence (Duginski) Zastrow, Merrill, from 1954-1964.
Bill served with the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired from Jaeger Bakery. He also had a real estate business in Milwaukee. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, camping, and loved the thrill of canoeing down the rapids.
Survivors include three daughters, Vicki Zastrow and Teresa Zastrow, Kalispell, MT, and Katie (David) Morrison, Merrill; two sons, Glen Zastrow, Spirit Lake, ID, and David Zastrow (Shannon), Wausau; 11 grandchildren, Nathaniel, Amanda, Sophia, Kristin, Lisa, David Jr., Alan, Justin, Troy, Madeline and Max; nine great-granschildren, Tyla, Orion, D’Angelo, Tayvia, Ava, Jayden, Julian, Ava, and Adriana; brother, Robert (Delores) Zastrow, of McFarland; and sisters, Norma Thimot, Flagstaff, AZ, and Ginny (Phil) Dettmering of Hartford; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Zastrow, Merrill. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Gail Marie; a grandson, Benjamin; one brother, Franklin; and one sister, Marie Olson. He also was preceded in death by his long-time companion, Delores Dehling, Milwaukee, in 2003.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A memorial service was held Monday, Feb. 17 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory, Kalispell, MT.
