Harold G. Natzke

Harold G. Natzke, 82, of Merrill, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill.
Harold was born March 31, 1931, in the Town of Corning, Lincoln County, son of the late Henry and Ernestina (Winter) Natzke. He married Ethel Bade on June 14, 1958, in Merrill. She survives. 
Harold was drafted into the United States Navy on March 8, 1956 and was honorably discharged on Oct. 16, 1957. He worked at Seeger’s Dairy in Merrill until 1966 when he began farming in the Town of Scott. Harold was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, where he was a former member of the church choir and the Board of Elders, and served as an usher for many years. Harold was also the Town of Scott Treasurer for 10 years. Harold took great pleasure in being with his family and friends and enjoyed playing cards. Harold was proud of his sons and grandson as they performed the words, “Then God made a farmer.”
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Natzke, of Merrill; two sons, Stephen Natzke and Philip (Kelly) Natzke, both of Merrill; two grandchildren, Bryant (Kristin) Natzke, of Merrill, and Danielle (Thomas) Hilbert, of Appleton; one sister, Esther Natzke, of Merrill; one sister-in-law, LuEllen Natzke, of Merrill; and his mother-in-law, Elsie Bade, of Merrill. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edna Kudick and Frieda Natzke; three brothers, Arnold, Erwin and Martin; and his father-in-law, Clarence Bade.  
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 17, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Joel Hoelter officiated. Burial took place at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Town of Scott, with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill.  
The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
