Kathryn Anne Nelson

Kathryn Anne Nelson, 23, took her first breath in Heaven on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.
Kathryn was the youngest of five children, born Sept. 14, 1990, in Waukesha, WI, to David and Dawn Nelson.  The Nelson family moved to Merrill shortly after she was born, and Kathryn completed elementary and middle school at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.
After her 8th grade graduation, David, Dawn, and Kathryn moved to St. Cloud, MN, for David’s work. Kathryn graduated high school in St. Cloud and was the concert master violinist in the orchestra at school. She performed in several concerts throughout school and later played her violin for other events. Kathryn returned to Merrill with her family in 2009. Here, she met the love-of-her-life, Bobby, with whom she had one son, Arthur. Kathryn enjoyed many fun times with her family at a cottage on Lake Alexander growing up. She loved being a mom, baking, laughing, playing her violin, fishing with Bobby, practical joking, and her cat, Rockstar. Her laugh and sense of humor could brighten a room, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her spirit will continue on with us.
Survivors include her significant other, Bobby Hoffman of Merrill and their son, Arthur; parents, David and Dawn Nelson; siblings, Kirsten (Derek), Erika (Bill), Robert (Stephanie) and Becky (Mat); nieces, Lauren, Kara, Josie, Abby, and nephew, Wesley; several aunts and uncles, grandparents, and a great-grandmother.
The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Feb. 3, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Michael McLain presided.
The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
