Evelyn Bergh

Evelyn Bergh, age 87, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at Artisan Assisted Living in Merrill.
Evelyn was born on April 5, 1926. She was the daughter of Walter and Dorothy (Peterson) Woellner. Evelyn married Robert Bergh on May 24, 1947. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1987. They lived in many places due to Robert’s role in the U.S. Air Force including Illinois, Michigan, California, Alaska, Texas, Montana and England.
Evelyn graduated from Merrill High School in 1944. Evelyn was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where she volunteered frequently and was a past member of the Church Council. Evelyn also volunteered at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center.
Evelyn most enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by them. Evelyn also enjoyed traveling, needlework and playing cards.
Evelyn is survived by her three children, Jean Meyer of Merrill, Mary Peters of Merrill and Paul (Sue) Bergh of Plover; six grandchildren, Jesse (Meg) Peters of Sun Prairie, Lucas Meyer (Carrissa Mutz) of Wausau, Amy Meyer of Wauwatosa, Leah (Terry) Zastrow of Merrill and Andy Bergh and Olivia Bergh of Plover; and four great grandchildren, Sara Zastrow, Taylor Zastrow, Mason Meyer and Ben Zastrow. Evelyn is also survived by two sisters, Mae Lupton and Lorraine Schneider; one brother, David Woellner; two sisters-in-law, Marlene Woellner and Dorothy Bergh, all of Merrill; and many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Hugo, Louis (Jenny) and Donald Woellner; and two brothers-in-law, Elmer Lupton and Harold Schneider.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Maurice Schaus will officiate. Burial will take place at Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
