William L. Leopold, age 91, of Merrill, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, at his home, under the care of his family and hospice.
Bill was born August 4, 1922, in Merrill, son of the late August and Ann Leopold. He married Marie A. Strasser on September 16, 1944, in Merrill. She survives. Bill had worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill, and retired after 48 years of employment. Bill enjoyed spending time at the family cottage in the Boulder Junction area, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Leopold, Merrill; his son, Jerry Leopold, Merrill; one grandson, Jeremy Leopold, Merrill; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Chloe; one sister, Shirley Pfingsten of Merrill; and one brother, Albert Leopold, Merrill. Bill is preceded in death by seven siblings, Elsie Janisch, Mae Wenzlick, Carl, George, Ray, and Fillmore Leopold, and Paul Leopold, Sr.
The Funeral Service will be at 12 Noon on Monday, September 23, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. R. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
