Irene E. Gryskiewicz, 87, formerly of rural Gleason, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Elizabeth Residence, Racine.
Irene was born July 7, 1925, in Thorp, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Hodorowski) Czernicki. She married Kostic Gryskiewicz on August 2, 1945, in Thorp. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1992. Irene was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, reading, doing volunteer work, walking, tending to her pets, and visiting with people.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Gryskiewicz, West Allis, and Sandra (Arthur Tyson) Gryskiewicz, Richmond, Virginia; a daughter in law, Sherry Pelgrin, Milwaukee; two grandchildren, Greg Gryskiewicz, Milwaukee, and Amy Gryskiewicz, Chicago; two step great granddaughters, Rebekah and Elizabeth; one brother, Joseph (Bernice) Czernicki, Franksville, Wisconsin; one sister, Marie Tranel, Galena, Illinois; and one sister in law, Norma Czernicki, Weslaco, Texas. Besides her parents and husband, Irene is preceded in death by her son, James Gryskiewicz in October of 2011, one brother Edward Czernicki, and one sister, Alice Laski.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 30, 2013, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Bloomville. Father Ronald Serrao will preside. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Town of Schley. Visitation will begin at 12 Noon on Sunday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
