Oscar John Falk Jr., age 83, of Merrill, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Oscar was born May 28, 1930 in Iron Ridge, WI, the son of the late Oscar and Anna (Stortz) Falk Sr. On June 25, 1960 Oscar and Mary Ann Osmanski were united in marriage in Crivitz, WI. She preceded him in death in 2011.
Oscar served with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953, and later worked for Semling Menke for 25 years, retiring in 1982. Oscar enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed being outdoors, watching birds, deer hunting, fishing, camping or driving through the Council Grounds. Oscar was a very patient man, he also liked animals and cooking. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and volunteered countless hours to the Head Start Early Childhood program.
Survivors include his daughter, Karen (Chris) Streich, Gleason; son, Andy (Briana) Falk, Waconia, MN; three grandchildren, Amanda Becker, Melissa Becker and Michael Streich.
Graveside services will take place at 12 p.m. Friday, June 7, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Crivitz, WI. Memorial donations may be made to the Lincoln County Humane Society.
