LaMonica named Youth Optimist of the Month

Brianna LaMonica has been chosen for the March Youth Optimist. She was nominated by Ms. Melissa Yuska and Mrs. Anna Julson. Ms. Yuska states that, “through her coaching of basketball and having Brianna as her teacher’s aide, she has gotten to know Brianna as an exceptional young lady who has a strong work ethic and a positive outlook on everything. Brianna has leadership qualities that help others to be the best they can be and is very reliable, while being dedicated to both her school and work. When it comes to role models for all students, Brianna is at the top of the list, she goes above and beyond what is expected of her and always does it in a positive manner.” Mrs. Julson states that, “Brianna always has a positive and helpful attitude. She is very studious and cares about school and her future – a good example for her peers.”
Currently, Brianna holds a rank of 31 of 266 and holds a 3.692 GPA. She has taken such classes as Honors American Lit & Comp., Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, AP Lit & Comp and Health Internship. Brianna has received Merrill Academic Scholar Medals and Letter and has also been on the Merrill High School Honor roll.
Brianna has participated in Link Crew, Student Council, Athletic Training Co-Op, Great Speaker Forum Committee, Plyos Camp and Summer Weightlifting Program, Girls’ Basketball and Softball.
Outside of school Brianna enjoys helping with Make A Difference Day, Hoops for Health, Bowl for Kids Sake, Tornado Relief Clean-Up, Future’s League and volunteers to work for youth traveling basketball tournaments, state basketball tournaments and Babe Ruth state softball tournaments.
After graduating from high school, Brianna plans to graduate from UW LaCrosse with a medical degree. She is the daughter of John and Nicole LaMonica.
