Lincoln County Sheriff?s reports, 03-20-13 edition

A 32 year old Merrill woman was arrested early Wednesday morning on criminal charges after deputies investigated a reported disturbance in the Town of Merrill. Just before 1 a.m., a 911 call reported the incident on Sunset Drive. When deputies arrived the reporting party told them that Jessica A. Strom showed up at the residence and when he refused to answer the door Strom broke a light on the front porch of the house before leaving. Strom returned a short time later and entered the home, breaking a door inside of the house, before climbing into a bed. Strom was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where she was booked on charges of criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to a dwelling. She was released after posting a cash bond.
Two Merrill women were injured after a two vehicle crash Wednesday morning in the Town of Scott. At 11:14 a.m. a cell 911 call reported the crash on County Rd K at the north County Rd Q. According to the deputy’s report, a vehicle being driven by 29 year old Ashley M. Jordan was going north on County Rd K when she stopped to turn west onto County Rd Q. A second vehicle being driven by 19 year old Katie M. Hall rear-ended the stopped Jordan vehicle. Both women were transported by Merrill EMS to Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center with non-life threatening injuries. It took over an hour for deputies to clear the scene and get traffic moving again.

Two Merrill teens were taken into custody on drug charges after a deputy investigated a drug complaint in the Town of Merrill. Just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday, a Town of Merrill man phoned the Sheriff’s Office and reported he found a baggie containing pills while doing the laundry for a 15 year old Merrill girl. A deputy went to the scene and was able to identify the pills as a controlled substance. When the deputy went to an address on Francis Drive in the City of Merrill he located the suspect along with 17 year old Cody Cavett. Both the juvenile suspect and Cavett admitted possession of several pre-packaged baggies of marijuana that were present at the Francis Drive home along with scales, pipes, unused baggies, and glass jars that smelled of marijuana. The 15 year old female was transported to secure juvenile detention while Cavett was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. At a bond hearing on Thursday, Cavett was released on a signature bond.

A 33 year old Merrill man was arrested Thursday evening on a warrant charge after deputies investigated a disturbance in the Town of Corning. Just after 8 p.m., a cell caller reported trouble at a residence on Greendale Drive. Deputies learned the disturbance did not rise to the level of an arrest but a check on a participant, Nicholas D. Young showed a warrant for his arrest through Lincoln County Court for failing to pay child support. Young was brought to the Lincoln County Jail where he remains unable to post the cash bond.

A 53 year old Tomahawk woman was taken into custody after a traffic stop late Thursday evening in the Town of Merrill. A deputy stopped a vehicle being driven by Kathleen A. Johnson on US Hwy 51 at Lincoln Drive at 10:24 p.m. The deputy noted the odor of an intoxicant and asked Johnson to perform field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests, Johnson was taken into custody on a first offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. She was later released to a responsible party.

A 41 year old Merrill man was stopped and taken into custody early Saturday morning for a traffic violation. A deputy stopped a vehicle on State Rd 64 at County Rd E in the Town of Scott at 1:30 a.m. The deputy noted the odor of an intoxicant and asked Jason A. Vander Velde to perform field sobriety tests. As a result of those tests Vander Velde was taken into custody on a first offense charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. He was later released to a responsible party.

No one reported striking a deer this past week in Lincoln County.
