Betty A. Retzlaff, age 82, of Merrill, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at Ministry St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.
Betty was born December 7, 1930, daughter of the late Alfred and Alice (Lemke) Rusch. She married Donald Retzlaff on November 13, 1971. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1990. Betty was a homemaker. She was an avid fisherwoman who loved to spend time at her cottage on Pike Lake. She loved to watch the deer, bear, chipmunks and other animals in her yard up north. Betty also liked to play cards, go on trips, spend time with her family, and play games on her computer.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn (Jeff) Seidlitz, and Nancy (Wally) Plautz, both of Merrill; one daughter-in-law, Mary Iwen, of Pewaukee, WI; two grandchildren, Jennifer Iwen and Don Iwen, both of Milwaukee; one great-grandchild, Conrad Iwen; and two sisters, Phyllis (Aubrey) Vickers, of San Jose, CA, and Donna (Robert) Buss, of Merrill. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Don Retzlaff; one son, Donald A. Iwen; an infant brother, Ardell; and two brothers-in-law, Harry Bell and Orville Schmidt.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 18, 2013, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine, Marathon County. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
