Salvation Army

The Salvation Army of Merrill has raised approximately $17,000 so far in the 2012 Bell Ringing campaign. The goal this year was to at least match last year’s total, which was $20,500.
If the Salvation Army is unable to raise the funds needed, we will not be able to help as many individuals and families in our community that will need our help, said Sharon Anderson, bell ringing campaign coordinator.
“The recession has ended but many people have not found work yet and are struggling to make ends meet,” Anderson said. “Many who have never sought help before are suddenly looking for help. Imagine, this could be someone you know, who for the first time will seek help this year and they may seek it from the Salvation Army.”
The Salvation Army in our area provides rent assistance, utlities, transportation and medical assistance to families and individuals in need.
If you were unable to get to a Red Kettle this holiday season, you can mail your tax deductible donation to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 614, Merrill, WI 54452. This year you can also donate online at www.onlineredkettle.org/merrill.
