Robert J. Krueger, age 80, of the Town of Merrill, died Monday, December 18, 2012, at his son’s home in the Town of Russell, Lincoln County.
Robert was born August 25, 1932, in Merrill, son of the late Louis and Frieda (Yaeger) Krueger. He married Karen Sue Hass on March 4, 1961. She preceded him in death on February 14, 1999. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1958, and had been stationed in Germany. Robert had been employed at Merrill Manufacturing Corporation for 34 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing cards, working on motors, motorcycling in his younger years, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Jodie (Albert, Jr.) Haltinner, of Merrill; two sons, Kevin R. (Beth) Krueger, of Merrill, and Kurt (Shelley) Krueger, of Gleason; seven grandchildren, Jason (companion, Athena) Haltinner, Kyle (Amanda) Haltinner, Cassie Haltinner, Brenda Krueger, Lisa Krueger, Jessica Krueger, and Ashley Krueger; four great-grandchildren, Henry, Lilee, Aaron, and Hank; and nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Dawn Krueger; and one half-brother and his wife, Herbert and Elsie Saeger.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 22, 2012, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Merrill V.F. W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday, and again after 10:00 A.M. Saturday, all at the funeral home.
