Tomahawk kicks off the holiday season

Tomahawk Chamber and Mayor Bob Lee announce that they will kick off the Holiday Season with the “official” lighting of the Tomahawk Christmas Tree.
On Friday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. Mayor Bob Lee will officially announce the beginning of the Holiday season. The newly planted pine tree located in Washington Square Park will be lit at 5 p.m. along with the train and gazebo. The tree is the replacement for one formerly located behind the fountain on Wisconsin Ave. People are encouraged to come out and participate in the lighting of the tree.
The Holiday tradition continues on Saturday, Nov. 24, as the day starts out with kids shopping at local merchants and free movies at Tomahawk Cinema sponsored by River Valley Bank. Show times are 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and the movie is yet to be announced.
The Christmas parade starts at 4:30 p.m. starring Santa Claus himself. The parade route is from the East end of Wisconsin Ave. to Second St. where the parade will disperse south. After the parade you can visit with Santa at Santa’s Cabin in Winter Wonderland which will be located behind the Rodeo Saloon this year. Families can line up at the archway between What’s Brewin’ and The Rodeo Saloon.
The Tomahawk Ambassadors will once again provide hot chocolate and cookies on the Rodeo’s Deck with a campfire to warm you up.
We are very excited this year to be partnering with the City of Tomahawk to kick off the Holiday Season, I think that the addition of the tree lighting ceremony on Friday night and the changes we made to the Winter Wonderland will only enhance an already exciting event in Tomahawk.,” said Tamra Anderson, Tomahawk Area Chamber of Commerce executive director.
