Tigers bite Hatchets

Fresh off a solid win, the Hatchet football team was ambushed by Stratford on Friday.
The Tigers jumped out to a 32-0 lead by halftime and ended up 46-13 victors.
“It was a frustrating loss,” THS coach John Larson said. “Offensively, we never got on track. Rushing the ball at times was good, but inconsistent. Defensively, we gave up way too many big plays along with several missed assignments and poor tackling.”
Stratford amassed for 266 rushing yards while THS ran for 172. But the Tigers held a substantial 179-21 passing yardage margin.
Jake Borchardt (6 atts., 30 yds.) and Austin Bellile (16-81) each gave Tomahawk rushing scores in the fourth quarter to crack the goose egg. Bellile hit on 5-of-14 passes, to Eddie Yirsa (2-13), Cale Graeber (2-3) and Austin Ehn (1-5).
Travis Urlaub (10-106, 2 TD), Eli Termanson (4-56, 2 TD), Jadyn Steines (1-59, TD) and Joe Franklin (2-13, TD) each gave Stratford rushing tallies. Hunter Kaufman (4-97, TD), Termanson (3-59) and Urlaub (1-23) were targets of Drew Spaeth (8-14, 179, TD).
Pacing the Hatchet defense were: A.J. Bunce (2 solos, 2 assists, 1 sack, 1 FC); Turner Wegener (2 s, 5 a, 1 PBU); Ehn (2 s, 2 a, 1 PBU); Graeber (1 s, 5 a); and Bellile (1 s, 2 a, 1 PBU). Tomahawk (1-3 in the Marawood and overall) will host Marathon for Friday’s 7:00 p.m. Homecoming Game.
