Hatchets hammer another relay meet

The Hatchet co-ed tack team turned in another top-level relay meet performance when its girls won the event by 26 points, and the boys placed a solid third.
The girls racked up 120 points to best West Iron County, Mich. (94), and Lakeland (86), while the boys scored 98 points to trail Lakeland (134) and Northland Pines (108).
“For the second straight week the girls came out on top of a relay invite,” THS coach John Zuelsdorf said. “They gained a lot of team confidence at Wittenberg the previous week and it showed. Especially down the stretch to take five of the last six running relays, when our girls were tired, they showed how determined they were to take the team title. It’s been a couple of years since we finished in front of Lakeland.
“The boys, without the services of (Matt) Gerber (at Kansas) and with his replacement anchor leg sick, were really scrambling to fill spots at this meet and it showed. We had runners doing a lot of events that they have never competed in before. However, our boys were gamers and made the changes willingly.”
The girls captured championships in a whopping 11 events with: Kayli Ogstad, Anna Sudbury, Katie Koth (LJ, 42′ 8.25″); Sudbury, McKena Viegut, Michelle Loretz (TJ, 86′ 2″); Ogstad, Kellan Flynn, and Kaitlyn Gaedtke (HJ, 13′ 8″); Loretz, Grace Mickelson, Breanna Renn (PV, 18′ 0″); Amanda Koshak, Deonna Schlinsog, Regan Swan, Rachael Miller (6400M, 25:31.62); Koth, Flynn, Breanna Renn, and Emily Miller (spr. med., 2:01.8); Koshak, Kelsey Renn, and E. and R.
